With my first son, I wasn’t able to breastfeed. This also means that I didn’t have to worry about nursing in public or purchasing nursing wear. This time, however, has been a whole different ballgame. R has been able to latch on, and therefore I now have to think about clothes that are easy to nurse in.
After losing enough weight to fit back into my non-maternity clothes, I had to assess which outfits would be ideal for nursing and which wouldn’t be. A lot of my outfits seemed to involve camis and as I quickly found out, the camis I had were terrible for nursing. None of them were actual nursing bras, so they didn’t have the snaps on the strap to fold down. They also had one of those shelf supports inside with a heavy elastic band. This made breastfeeding really hard because the top was so awkward to get up and down. Plus it left my stomach exposed, which no girl wants — especially after having a baby!
Undercover Mama shirts are a great solution to this problem, by allowing you to turn any bra into a nursing tank. Each Undercover Mama nursing shirt has a hook and a loop located where a typical tank top’s straps would be. You attach Undercover Mama shirts to the outer flap of a top-opening nursing bra by sliding each hook onto the flap a little below the clasp. Another option is to slip the loop over the part of the bra that folds down so that the bra and the tank top move as one piece. The best part is that it hides your stomach!
Undercover Mama shirts come in 16 different colors. What I also like is that two of the options come with a lace trim on the bottom so it is great for layering. You can purchase one, starting at $24.99, on the Undercover Mama website.
In addition, I have the opportunity to give one Undercover Mama shirt to a lucky reader! All you have to do is enter using the form below before 11:59 p.m. EST on May 16, 2014. Good luck!
