We are heading into the holiday travel season. Whether it be for Thanksgiving or Christmas, chances are that you will either be traveling to someone’s house or have someone staying at your house. If you are the one who is doing the hosting, you are going to need to get your house “company ready.”
Having your home company ready not only means having it clean, but also feeling like home for your guests. I know for myself that being comfortable, even at someone else’s home, is important. If it is important to me, I’m sure it’s also important to my guests. This is why I created a guest preparedness kit — dedicated to preparing for and pampering overnight guests.
Before guests even arrive, I give things a good cleaning using Lysol wipes as well as Lysol spray. This not only gets rid of any dirt and dust, but also Lysol kills 99.9% of bacteria on soft surfaces. In addition to the bedroom, I also give our guest bathroom a good cleaning. The Lysol wipes are perfect for cleaning the counter, sink, bathtub, and toilet, while the Lysol spray is great for disinfecting light switches, door knobs, and the fixtures.
Another thing that is vital when you are expecting company is to have the guest room and bathroom well stocked. Rather than my guests having to ask for some basic necessities, I try to anticipate some of the things that my guests might need.
In addition to the standard towels, I also set out some Kleenex and a jar of HALLS cough drops. Winters here in Pennsylvania are pretty cold and having the furnace on can dry the air out causing a scratchy throat and cough. I want my guests to be comfortable so I put the HALLS out.
The cold weather can also cause a runny nose, especially if we are doing any outside activities. Instead of making the guests use something like toilet paper, I keep a well-stocked box of Kleenex on the counter. Plus, Kleenex are so soft on the nose so your guests won’t end up looking like Rudolf!
In the guest room itself, I put some bottles of water and crackers. When you are at someone else’s house, it can be awkward to get up in the middle of the night to get something to eat or drink. This is why I put a couple of bottles of Smartwater in the room as well as a package of Premium Saltine Crackers. I don’t want my guests to be hungry or thirsty!
Almost as great as having a fully-prepared house for whenever we have guests is the fact that I can easily pick up everything for guests (as well as our day-to-day necessities) at our local CVS. It is easy and convenient, and most importantly, it is all in one place!
You can find the Smartwater, Premium Saltine Crackers, Lysol, HALLS, and Kleenex all at your local CVS. Additionally, starting Sunday 11/15 through the end of the week, if you spend $15 on seasonal essentials at your CVS store, you will receive $5 in extra bucks! That’s an awesome deal!
