We recently got a new dining room table for our house. Since moving into the house back in July we haven’t had a dining room table, and we pretty much just used the room for storage.
Once we sold our other house and we weren’t on such a tight budget anymore, we decided to go ahead and buy a table and set up the dining room. Well, the table came today and it looks great! However, I wanted something that would make it pop a little bit more.
I am decorating the room in a primitive, antique decor so I wanted something that would fit with that theme. I also wanted something that wouldn’t cost a lot. That is when I came up with this cute little water garden. The best part is I spent under $5 for it!
I had a vase that I had saved from when I had received flowers from my husband. It has been sitting in my cupboard for the longest time, and I figured it would be perfect for this project. It is a square-shaped vase so it has a little more visual appeal. If you don’t have a vase lying around somewhere, you can always find inexpensive vases at thrift stores, garage sales, craft stores, or flea markets. They are usually pretty cheap too.
The rocks at the bottom of the vase are from the dollar store. The whole little back only set me back $1.06 and I didn’t even use them all! The plant I bought at a local pet store. It is an aquarium plant, a broad leaf to be exact, so it is made to live in water. The plant only cost $1.59 so it was a good buy!
I may eventually put a beta in the vase, but I think it still looks pretty good. I am just happy that I was able to make it so inexpensively and upcycle an old vase!
