Suffering from acne is not only frustrating but it’s also embarrassing. It never seems to fail that when I have an important meeting or event, I start to break out.
I’m also really bad when it come to hormonal breakouts. I seriously could almost set my fertility calendar for when I ovulate and get my period based on when I break out.
It isn’t just my face though. Yes, I get the breakouts on my forehead and chin, but I also get them on my neck and in my hairline. Even when I’m not actively broken out, my skin often looks uneven and red.
I’ve tried spot treatments before, but the stuff under my chin is particularly stubborn and doesn’t respond well to spot treatment. I have never felt that it was bad enough to actually go to the dermatologist, however; I figured I’d just suffer through it.
Now, the power of the prescription medications are available right on the shelf. The new Differin® Gel clears acne with the power of a prescription. It is the first and only prescription strength retinoid now available over the counter for clearing and preventing acne. It’s the newest advancement and ingredient in the OTC acne category in over 30 years! It works by clearing breakouts where they start (deep in the pores) to stop breakouts before they begin and as a result, restore skin’s texture and tone.
I have the opportunity to try Differin® Gel for myself over the next two months. I’m giving up all my spot treatments and will rely on Differin® Gel. Please use caution when using Differin® Gel with more than one acne treatment or glycolic acid product because this could lead to irritation.
Differin® Gel isn’t used the same way as spot treatments. In fact, in order to get the best results you should apply a thin layer all over the face once a day, every day.
Of course, during treatment it is also important to cleanse and moisturize your face. I begin by removing all of my makeup at night using makeup remover wipes and also washing my face with a mild (non-irritating), non-drying cleanser such as Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser. This will remove all the dirt and grime your skin has accumulated through the day.
I then applied a thin layer of Differin® Gel all over my face and onto the problem area under my chin. I followed the treatment with the application of Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15. If you choose to use Differin® Gel during the day, allow to dry before applying any sort of sunscreen.
I am so excited to see what sort of results using the Differin® Gel for the next 8 weeks will yield.
You can join me on this journey by picking up Differin® Gel as well as Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleanser and Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 in the skin care aisle of your local Target.
