If you are like me, you are probably starting to think ahead to Halloween. If you are more prepared than me, you have probably been thinking about Halloween for a while. I am supposed to be helping out with Ethan’s class Halloween party this year so I am starting to think about what sort of treats I am going to take.
I am always trying to come up with some out-of-the-box ideas for class parties. This year I decided to make some “screaming” good parfait cups. I wanted something that would be fun yet wasn’t just completely sugar filled.
My sons recently found TruMoo Orange Scream milk in our local grocery store a couple of weeks ago. It looked really delicious so we decided to pick up a half gallon. Inspired by the taste of an orange creamsicle, this 1% low-fat milk is delicious!
If you are a reader of my blog, you know that I’m a big fan of Halloween so when I found this orange milk I knew I had to incorporate it into a Halloween recipe for school. That’s when I decided to make some gelatin pudding parfaits.
Make Halloween A Scream With Gelatin Pudding Parfaits
For this recipe you will need:
- 1 package of vanilla instant pudding mix
- 3 cups of TruMoo Orange Scream milk
- 4 packages of grape gelatin
Begin by making up the pudding using the vanilla pudding and the 3 cups of cold TruMoo Orange Scream milk. (If you are making this for an entire class you will want to at least triple this recipe!) The pudding will set within approximately 5 minutes and should be a bright orange color.
I then put it in the refrigerator until I was ready for it again.
I boiled water and following the instructions on the package, made up the gelatin mix. I used grape gelatin, but any flavor will work as long as it is purple. After doing the mix I then put it in an 8×8 baking pan (I want the cubes to be thick) and allowed to set.
Once the gelatin has set I cut it into squares and removed it from the pan.
I then spooned the orange pudding into the bottom third of an adorable Halloween glass beaker jar that I picked up at our local craft store. I knew that the kids would love these! (Even if you don’t use the beaker jars, you should still use a clear glass in order to get the full effect of the recipe.)
After spooning in the pudding, I then made a layer of gelatin cubes. I finished off the parfait with another layer of the pudding.
To make it just a little more spooky I added in a few candy eyes to really make it look like a “specimen.”
This turned up super-cute and will be something that the kids at school will love!
What I love is the fact that I was able to use the TruMoo milk for this recipe as well. Not only does the milk taste delicious but also has no GMO ingredients, no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial sweeteners, and no artificial flavors or colors.
Ethan loves it as an after-school drink drink on its own, but also loves it as pudding.
The TruMoo Orange Scream is available in grocery stores nationwide though the end of October, but you can still find TruMoo in regular, chocolate, and strawberry flavors any time of year. To find TruMoo in a store near you visit the TruMoo locator.
