Have you ever had a pet that has been with you through so many of life’s ups and downs? One that seems like more therapy than a pet?
I have two cats that I am extraordinarily grateful for. Both are rescues, one I adopted from the shelter and the other I found in a parking lot. Since then, they have been with me through the end of an engagement, a marriage, births of my sons, and the death of a spouse.
They have provided me with comfort during some difficult times. No matter how difficult things got they were there to provide silent comfort, to lay next to me while I cried.
During Thanksgiving this year it is important to remember the family members who are always there for us, and ask for nothing in return. This year, in addition to everyone else who has helped me through this, I want to take time to remember my cats. I love my cats and I want to treat them to a happy Thanksgiving season.
I decided to make my cats their own little Thanksgiving feast — with some special treats — this year.
I love being able to give my cats treats, just so that they know that I love them. That’s why I decided to make them a special treat container to keep their Temptations® Classics Tantalizing Turkey Flavor treats in.
I started with a cute glass jar that I found at a craft store which I knew would be perfect for holding the treats. I wanted to make it special so I decided to do some glass etching on the jar.
I attached some stick-on stencil stickers to spell out “Give Thanks.”
I then brushed on the etching cream. Make sure you get in all of the nooks of the stencil. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
After the 15 minutes have passed, wash the etching cream off with regular tap water. Remove the stencil and you are left with your message.
Of course, I said that I am planning to create a mini feast for my cats this Thanksgiving. I purchased a cute glass bowl with fish on it. I also purchased some SHEBA® PERFECT PORTIONS™ to put in the bowl.
I embellished the meal with a mason jar filled with some cat grass (because what cat doesn’t love cat grass?). Since treats have to wait until after the meal, when the cats have finished with the SHEBA® PERFECT PORTIONS™ I purchase a Temptations® Snacky Mouse for them to play with.
Even though my cats are senior cats, when I brought out that Temptations® Snacky Mouse they acted like kittens, rolling around on the floor trying to get the treats out.
