I take a lot of pictures. I don’t just mean pictures for the blog, but pictures of my family, friends, and even our pets. The only issue is that I often get so busy that I often forget to back up the pictures. I will transfer them to the computer and then forget about it. So far I have been lucky and nothing has happened to my hard drive, but sometimes I feel like by not backing up the photos I am tempting fate.
Picture Keeper is a great little device that helps you back up your pictures. The PK4, which I had the opportunity to test out, holds approximately 4,000 of your photos. What is ever better is that all you have to do is plug it in and it finds your pictures for you! There is no software to install, wires to connect, passwords to remember, or monthly fees.
I have a Mac, which can often be tricky when it comes to software, however, the Picture Keeper works easily with either a PC or a Mac. There is no additional software needed. It also works well with all photo organizing softwares such as Kodak Easy Share, and Picasa.
Another handy feature is that every time you plug in the Picture Keeper in order to back up your photos it automatically detects duplicates so valuable space isn’t taken up. Another fantastic thing is that once one Picture Keeper fills, just use another and the second will continue where the first left off! It’s so easy.
There are four different sizes of Picture Keepers, plus the option to just buy the software and to use your own drives. There is even a calculator on the Picture Keeper website that will help you choose which size you need.
As you can see from the pictures, the Picture Keeper is about the size of your standard flash drive. Because it uses USB technology, you can use the Picture Keeper to plug into your digital photo frame, take it to your local photo kiosk, or just put it in a safe.
At only $29.99 for the PK4, the Picture Keeper would make great stocking stuffers for anyone who takes a lot of photos. Now through December 31, 2013, Third Stop on the Right readers can take 15% off their order and get free shipping using coupon code 3RDSTOP1213.
In addition, I am giving away a Picture Keeper PK4 to one lucky reader! The contest runs now through 11:59 p.m. EST December 18, 2013. Just enter using the form below. Contest open to US residents only.
