The goal of The All of Us Research Program is to engage one million or more U.S. participants. It is something that researchers hope will revolutionize how disease is prevented and treated base on lifestyle, environment, and genetics.
This program, which is run by the National Institutes of Health aims to use the accrued data t0 advance precision medicine care — which is health care that is based on each individual. It takes into account factors such as where you live, what you do, and your family health history and genetics.
Here in Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh was awarded a grant for $4.2 million for the first year, with a potential for up to $67 million over five years to build the infrastructure needed to launch the program. The University’s program, All of Us Pennsylvania, plans to enroll 120,000 patients in the region. So far, All of Us Pennsylvania has enrolled 8,000 participants so far.
By participating in the study, you will not only be compensated $25, but you can also help change the future of medicine, which may improve your health, the health of others, and even the health of your children.
All of Us Pennsylvania is Easy To Sign Up For
It is really easy (and convenient) to sign up for the All of Us Pennsylvania research project.
Make an appointment. There are a variety of locations in which you can make an appointment at. You can do this by calling 412-383-2737 of visiting this website.
Enroll. To enroll in the research study, complete the online consent process, answer health surveys, and safely share your health data. It is also possible to complete the process at one of the enrollment centers where staff can assist you.
Participate. Once you have scheduled your appointment, just visit your local enrollment centers where you will have your measurements taken and give samples of blood and urine.
Contribute. This research study aims to create the largest health data resource ever. Your data will be added to the All of Us Research Program database and possibly used for health studies.
When you participate in the All of Us Program you don’t have to worry about your privacy being violated. Your name and other identifiers will be removed and replaced with a code.
