I admit it, I’m a cat lover. I have two cats that I’ve had for years. Although I don’t have as much time as I used to, I still enjoy making the cats handmade treats and toys.
One of the things my cats love is to sit at the window and look outside. The problem is that both of them are bigger cats and balancing on a window sill can be tough.
Instead of risking them falling off the window sill, I decided to make the cats a window sill perch to sit in. It will allow the cats to sit comfortably while not risking falling off.
Making a Window Sill Cat Perch
I found a really cute wooden crate with mesh sides at the local craft store. As soon as I saw it I knew it would be perfect for the cat perch.
I had two shelf brackets in my garage that I had left over. The shelf was gone and I just had the brackets. Instead of just getting rid of them, I decided to repurpose them. The idea of the cat perch was born.
I started by attaching the shelf brackets to the wall right under the window sill. Be sure to use screws and wall anchors so that the brackets are secure to the wall. If your cat is particularly heavy, you will want to secure the brackets to the studs.
After securing the brackets to the wall, you will want to attach the wooden crate. This will ensure that the crate doesn’t fall over. I made some no-sew pet beds last year which I knew would be perfect to line the perch as well.
My cat, Tango, was definitely curious about the bed but when he realized that he could use it to look outside, he was happy.
Treating My Cats With Meow Mix
In addition, to the new cat perch making my cats happy, I also bought them some Meow Mix Simple Servings in the Chicken and Turkey flavor. It contains pieces of real seafood or poultry in a savory sauce or gravy.
I love these Simple Servings because they come in handy single-serve portions so there are no leftovers and I know the cats won’t overeat. Plus, the cup is easy-open and easy to serve. The best part is that there is no mess and no need to use a fork or a spoon.
You can purchase Meow Mix Simple Servings in the pet food aisle of your local Target. Additionally, now through November 15, when you use Target’s Cartwheel app you can save 20% on Meow Mix. You can also use DailyBreak.com to get 20% off of your Meow Mix purchase as well as be entered to win a $250 gift card.
Comment On: What sort of homemade treats and toys do you make for your pets?
I must be a horrible cat mom, because I don’t make them treats or toys. I do give them to them, I just don’t make them myself. One of my cats loved balls made from aluminum foil. Anytime he heard me tearing a piece, he’d come running and I’d have to make him a ball and toss it. He’d chase after it and return it to me. He was so much fun, but passed away a few years ago.
