Here’s the thing about these years though. They are fleeting. While there are days where I feel like I can’t wait for bedtime so I can have some time to myself, I also know that before I know it these little boys will be young men. That’s why I try to make the most of all the time we have together.
This means pushing them on the swings on the swing set even when I’d rather sit and observe, or making a mess in the family room with them even though it means picking up toys later. There will be a time for a clean house or sitting and reading a book, but that also means my boys will be grown — and that’s not something that I want to rush!
One of the things that my boys love the most is when we do crafts and activities together. Since all of the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks are busy preparing for winter, the boys and I decided to give them a hand by making some seed-covered toilet paper tubes.
These toilet paper tubes are the perfect treat for wildlife and also for kids to be creative with, especially because there is no right or wrong way to do it.
You will need:
- several empty toilet paper tubes or paper towel rolls
- yarn or twine
- peanut butter
- seeds
Punch two small holes on opposite sides of the tube. Thread the yard or twine through the holes and tie a knot. This is what you will use to hang the tubes.
Allow the kids to spread the peanut butter on the outside of the tube. Make sure it is thick enough to hold the seeds.
Pour a generous amount of bird seed into a bowl or tray. Roll the peanut butter-covered tube in the tray until the tube is completely covered.
All that is left is to hang the tubes in a tree or on a hook and watch the wildlife enjoy the treat!
Pepperidge Farm Goldfish® Crackers understands about making these precious memories which is why they created the Goldfish Tales campaign. This campaign allows you to share a time when Goldfish Crackers added smiles to you and your loved ones faces.
Goldfish Crackers have always been one of my go-to snacks because not only do they taste good, but the are also baked with real cheese, have no artificial flavors or preservatives, and generally are a snack you can feel good about serving to your kids.
You can pick up Goldfish Cheddar, Goldfish Baked With Whole Grain Cheddar, and Goldfish Colors Cheddar in the cracker section of your local Walmart.
So pour a bowl of Goldfish Crackers for yourself and your kids, and get to crafting!
