Even though I am a stay at home mom, life always seems to be busy at our house. Whether it be just keeping up with E, doing the laundry, cooking, or cleaning the house it seems there is always something to be done. Ever since E started eating regular food instead of just formula or jarred baby food, I keep saying that I want to go to the farmers’ market to get some fresh produce that I can give to him. Unfortunately, it also seems that I either forget the day or the time of the market, or there is something else going on and I’m not able to make it.
I am sure that I am not the only mom that has this problem. That is why companies such as The FruitGuys are so great. The FruitGuys have been providing fresh fruits and vegetables to workplaces for almost 15 years now, but recently they have launched a TakeHome product.
Similar to The FruitGuys’ office fruit crate products, TakeHome produce goes from local farms to homes within 2-4 days, among the fastest and freshest produce supply chain in the nation. The TakeHome is packed in earth-friendly, recycled cardboard crates and printed with soy-based inks.
I have to admit that when I opened the box I was amazed at the quantity (and quality!) of fruit and vegetables it contained. I opted for the fruits and veggies TakeHome box, but you can also get either just fruit or just veggies too. What made it really nice, since there were some products that I wasn’t sure what they were, that FruitGuys included a sheet that explained what type of product it was as well as a sheet of recipes that you could make from these products.
At first, the $26 price tag for the regional fruits and veggies case seems a little high, but after comparing what I would pay at a local grocery store for these same products, it was actually pretty comparable. Plus, with the FruitGuys TakeHome case, it is delivered right to your door and the food really does go a long way. Another perk to the TakeHome case is that if any of your fruit or veggies arrive damaged or spoiled the company will either give you credit for them or have a replacement sent to you.
