I really struggle with drinking water during the day. I will admit that I’m a soda addict. I know its not good for me, especially since I am trying to lose weight and live healthier.
Each day we should be consuming half of our body weight in ounces of water. I was literally only drinking about 20 ounces (which would have been perfect if I weighed 40 pounds). The constant dehydration was leading to health issues such as kidney stones.
I knew that I needed to make a change.
I scoured the internet as well as magazines to find out some tips to stay hydrated that was more than just guzzling bottles of water all day.
Tips for Staying Hydrated
Drink water. This is the most obvious of the tips. You should be drinking as much water as possible, but often I get sucked into the notion that I don’t like the taste of water or that plain water is boring.
Try sports drinks or coconut water. Whether you are exercising, just don’t like the taste of plain water, or want something with a little more taste, consider trying a sports drink. I personally love BODYARMOR LYTE.
BODYARMOR LYTE is a naturally flavored, naturally sweetened, low-calorie sports drink that not only provide electrolytes but also only has 20 calories per serving and is perfect for after a run or an exercise class. It also features no artificial colors.
Plus, it comes in two delicious flavors including Peach Mango and Cherry Berry. I would have to say the Peach Mango is my personal favorite, but then again I am a sucker for anything peach. Regardless of which flavor you choose, BODYARMOR LYTE is heavy on hydration and LYTE on calories.
Set reminders. I once saw that my friend had downloaded an app to her phone which gave her reminders to drink water. I have even seen water bottles themselves that sync to a fitness band and will remind you when you haven’t been drinking enough water. These are great ways to keep on track so that everything else going on in life doesn’t distract you.
Beware of dehydration. While the goal is to stay hydrated, sometimes we get off track. Dehydration can be very serious so it is important to recognize when you are beginning to dehydrate. The main way to do this is to drink enough water or sports drinks to prevent thirst. As soon as you start to get thirsty it means that dehydration is kicking in.
I know that I am far off from reaching my fluid intake goals, but I have been diligently working on it. I am so glad that there are drinks such as BODYARMOR LYTE that can help me along in my journey. You can purchase BODYARMOR LYTE at your local Giant Eagle or Kroger.
