TheGratefulTable_headerThis year, we are hosting Thanksgiving at our house. This is the first time we have done so since having Baby R and I need to get back in the groove of things when it comes to entertaining. This is why when I was challenged by Wayfair to design a Grateful Table tablescape.

GratefulTable_titleIf you are a long-time reader of my blog you will know that I love decorating for the holidays. The problem when it comes to Thanksgiving, however, is that there aren’t a whole lot of decorating themes aside from turkeys, Pilgrims, and Indians which isn’t really the look that I was going for. Instead, I decided to take my inspiration for this year’s table from the colors, and simplicity, of fall.

I already have a dining room which is accented with shades of brown and burgundy, so I had the perfect  shade of red that fit my fall theme. It reminds me of the changing leaves.

Table2The tablescape that I designed is one that is simple, yet elegant. After all, this holiday is about being thankful for the things that we have so I only used decorations that I already had or could make myself. One of my favorite elements of the table is the centerpiece. I actually made the jar candle holder using Mod Podge and leaves from our yard. Surrounding the jar is a plain grapevine wreath.

Table3I accented the centerpiece with some crystal candle sticks, as well as mini pumpkins and gravy boats.

Table4When Mike and I got married we chose china that could be used on formal occasions, but was dishwasher safe and still practical. I chose this china as well as used our formal flatware and water goblets.

KidsTableThis year is the first year that our boys are going to have a “kids table”. In the past I was able to keep Little E at the table since he was in a high chair and Reese wasn’t even walking. This year we are going to set up the boy’s Little Tikes picnic table as a place for them to eat since I don’t anticipate them actually sitting at the table with the adults.
