The holidays are right around the corner. This means that more than likely you will be attending some holiday parties and get-togethers. This also means that you will most definitely need to come up with some hostess gift ideas.
Hostess gifts are something I always struggle with. I feel that gifts such as wine or bath and body products are sort of played out. Additionally, I am never quite sure what people like — especially if the hostess isn’t someone we know exceptionally well. This is why I decided to get creative with making a hostess gift basket.
When people think of the holidays, they often think of baked goods. The problem is that people are always brining baked goods to parties — so many that most people would ever be able to eat them all! What if you could bring the gift of baked goods, but without the goods actually being baked?
This is why I love jar brownies. You can pack all of the dry ingredients into a jar and when you are ready to make the cookies or brownies you can simply mix the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients and bake it! It is a totally unique and heartfelt gift.
Chocolate Chip Bar Jar Brownies
These jar brownies are super easy to make and only require seven ingredients. Layer the ingredients given into a wide-mouth 1-quart canning jar. Pack each layer in place before adding the next ingredient.
I highly recommend using a funnel when you put the ingredients in. This will make your life so much easier (and keep you from having a big mess!)
Here is the order and the amount of ingredients that you should put in the jar:
1 C. all-purpose baking flour
1/4 C. sugar
1/2 C. brown sugar
1 C. chocolate chips
1/4 C. brown sugar
1/4 C. sugar
3/4 C. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
After packing all of the dry ingredients into the jar, you will want to put the top and the ring onto the jar. Make sure that it is screwed on tight.
You will want to cut some fabric into a circle approximately 10 inches in diameter. I actually traced the top of a pot to draw the circle, which worked perfectly! Then secure the fabric onto the jar with a rubber band.
I then created a gift tag for the jar. On one side of the tag I put the ingredients and on the other side I put the baking instructions.
[yumprint-recipe id=’7′]I secured the tag to the jar with some jute cord.
