It’s time for back to school! Luckily, since my boys are still young we have a little extra time to get ready in the mornings. However, as they say, the devil is in the details.
For me, the details are the little things such as finding the boys book bags, my jewelry, or even finding the car keys. I have found that having hooks in place, really helps me to find things easily and keep things organized. I have a storage nook in my entry hall for holding the book bags and a holder to keep keys and mail. The only thing I didn’t have was a good way to organize my jewelry.
I have a jewelry box to hold bracelets and earrings but necklaces were my major problem. Not only are there a lot of them to keep in the box, but they tend to get jumbled together. The last thing I want to do when I’m running out the door is untangle necklaces. That’s why I built a wall-mounted necklace shadow box.
I found a great unpainted, diagonal slat shadow box at my local craft store. I bought it, as well as some white, grey, and pink chalk paint.
When I got home I spray painted the entire shadow box with the white chalk paint. I then painted the slats alternating grey and pink. I highly recommend using painter’s tape when painting the slats. It makes it so you don’t have to worry about getting paint where you don’t want it.
I also picked up a package of white cup hooks at the local hardware store. Along the top, inside edge of the shadow box I screwed in a number of the hooks. This is where the necklaces will go.
Additionally, I attached hanging hardware to the back of the shadowbox and hung it on the wall. I then hung all of my necklaces on the hooks.
Not only does this keep the necklaces from tangling, but it also made a pretty display on the wall of my bedroom.
Mornings, especially during the school year, can be hectic. This is why I also came up with a variety of other organizing and storage solutions to make your life easier, courtesy of Wayfair.
