There is something about winter that makes you want to cuddle up by a fireplace on a cold day with a nice, hearty meal. The truth is, we don’t have a fireplace at our house and the weather has been in the 50s — not exactly the picture of winter. This doesn’t mean, however, that I can’t treat my family to a hearty meal.
With two small boys running around, I don’t have time for elaborate meals (let’s be honest) which is why I love making slow cooker meals. You can throw the ingredients into the pot in the morning and by dinnertime you have a delicious meal. Plus, by saving time on making your meals, it gives you more time to spend with your family (which is what is most important anyway!)
The other day I was experimenting in the kitchen with some slow cooker meals and I came up with this delicious Creamy Roasted Slow Cooker Chicken recipe. The best part is, that I simply used a can of Progresso® Light soup as my sauce!
- 1 can Progresso® Light: Creamy Roasted Chicken with Herb Dumpling Soup
- Egg noodles
- 2 packages (16 ounces) of cream cheese
- 3 large chicken breasts
- 1 package of Italian dressing
- Herbs such as thyme, sage, and rosemary (optional)
- Place the chicken breasts, Italian dressing, cream cheese, and herbs into the slow cooker.
- Pour the can of soup over all of the ingredients.
- Set the noodles aside.
- You will want to let it cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
- Cook egg noodles according to instructions.
- Serve the creamy chicken over the egg noodles.
You will need the following ingredients:
- 1 can Progresso® Light: Creamy Roasted Chicken with Herb Dumpling Soup
- Egg noodles
- 2 packages (16 ounces) of cream cheese
- 3 large chicken breasts
- 1 package of Italian dressing
- Herbs such as thyme, sage, and rosemary (optional)
Place the chicken breasts, Italian dressing, cream cheese, and herbs into the slow cooker. Pour the can of soup over all of the ingredients. Set the noodles aside. You will want to let it cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
Approximately 15 minutes before you plan to eat you will want to prepare the egg noodles over which the roasted chicken will be served.
Once the noodles are ready, create a bed of noodles on the plate. Then, spoon the chicken and sauce onto the noodles. Now all you have left to do is to enjoy!
The best part is that you can pick up all the ingredients you need, including a variety of Progresso® Light soups, at your local Walmart. I actually purchased a can of the Progresso® Light Vegetable and Noodle soup which is perfect for lunches or even to pull out for the kids if my husband and I are having a meal that I know the boys won’t eat. It is also the perfect soup to serve as a side dish to even to pair with sandwiches. In fact, there are enough varieties to fit your family’s every mood. Just look for the Progresso® Light soups in the soup isle of your local store. Plus, before you shop be sure to print out one of these $1.00 off of four cans (any flavor) of Progresso® soup.
Comment On: Which variety of Progresso® Light soup would you want would you and your family like to try?
