So this year I decided to do something a little different with my tax refund. I wanted something that wouldn’t benefit just myself, but would be able to help my family make memories and family.
I love being able to take my kids on all sorts of experiences and take tons of pictures. To be able to do more of this, I decided to go to my local Walmart and purchase the Samsung Galaxy On5 phone and a Walmart Family Mobile plan. What is even better is that the Samsung Galaxy On5 is currently on Rollback for $69 from $119.
All you have to do is purchase a phone and the $19.88 SIM Kit, and choose a plan. I currently have the Unlimited* Talk, Text, and Data (*which includes up to 10 GB of 4G LTE then 2G) plan which is $49.88 per month, per line. This plan even includes a free VUDU movie credit ($7 value). (Disclaimer: All prices for phones and plans included in this post are accurate as of the date of posting; however, these prices are subject to change. Please refer to http://cbi.as/7e-jr or your local Walmart for current pricing.)
Speaking of movies, my boys and I love to have movie nights. We pick up a movie that I know we will all enjoy, grab some delicious snacks, and cuddle together on the couch. My boys say that this is one of their favorite evening activities.
Throwing a Movie Night Party
I decided to surprise the boys with a full-blown movie night party this weekend. They loved it!
I wanted this party to have a Hollywood feel mixed with traditional movie theater elements. I used some red curtains to give the look of a theater and then built from there.
I was able to find a bunch of movie night-inspired decorations, including cups, napkins, and a movie reel cupcake stand. I even found a mini director’s clap board.
Of course, no movie experience is complete without the popcorn. I popped some movie-style butter popcorn and put in these cute popcorn boxes. This way each of the boys can have their own boxes.
I wanted to set things up like a mini concession stand so I filled some containers with gummy fish, gummy bears, and red licorice. I even put small scoops in the bowls so the kids could help themselves.
In addition to the candy I also set up a drink station complete with bottles of soda and movie night cups.
My favorite decoration is the movie reel cupcake stand. It not only serves some sweet treats, but also ties the decor together.
I also found some cute movie-themed photo booth props. Little E had a great time trying out all of the different props and asking me to take pictures of them.
After getting our fill of treats, drinks, and silliness it was finally time to snuggle together on the couch and watch our VUDU movie on our Smart TV. These are the kind of family memories that are invaluable.
You can sign up for Walmart Family Mobile by visiting the electronics section of your local Walmart. Since this plan is postpaid, all you have to pay upfront is the cost of the phone and the SIM Kit. It’s that easy!
