Spending time with my kids is something that is so important to me. I know that these years will pass in the blink of an eye, and before I know it the boys will be teenagers. That’s why I try to spend as much time with them now while I can.
One of my favorite things to do is play with the boys in the backyard after dinner. Whether it be pushing them on the swings, playing in the sandbox, or even doing arts and crafts, these are the times that are precious to me. So instead of spending hours in the kitchen cooking and cleaning up, I love that I can pull out a bag of Tyson® Any’Tizers®, pop them in the oven, and serve a meal that the whole family loves — even the picky eaters!
Speaking of doing arts and crafts, recently the boys and I made some really cute stepping stones with the boys the other day. I plan to make one each year to see how their hands grow and will put the stones along our retaining wall in the backyard. The stones were surprisingly easy to make and can be used in the yard, in landscaping, or you can even use them as a wall decoration or to put on a shelf.
Children’s Handprint Stepping Stones
I started out by purchasing a stepping stone kit at our local craft store. What is great about these premade kits is that after purchasing the initial kit with the mold (and in this case the letter stamps) you can just purchase refill mortar so you can use the mold over and over again.
You will want to use a large container to mix your mortar. I used one of those gallon ice cream containers. Follow the instructions on the package to mix the mortar. Each mortar is slightly different so you will want to find out how much water to use for your specific mix.
Once you have mixed the mortar, it is time to pour! Carefully pour the mortar into the mold. After pouring the mortar into the mold, slightly jiggle the mold in order to get the mortar to fill the entire mold and for it to lay flat.
Now it is time to press their hands into the mold. I pressed their hands in first in case I needed to redo the print. After pressing their hands in, I used the letter stamps to stamp their names over their hand prints and put the date at the bottom. I then let the boys decorate the stepping stone the decorative glass gems and the stained glass.
You will want to let the stepping stone dry overnight. After it is fully dry, gently twist the edges of the mold in order to free the stepping stone. After it is out, find that perfect place in the yard to place it so that you can admire it for years!
Love FANTASTIC FOUR? A Ticket is as easy as Buy, Snap, and Get!
Unfortunately, not all summer days are good for spending outside. Especially in Pennsylvania. Especially this summer. On days when it is cold or raining, a fabulous way to spend time with the boys is to take them to the movies.
The two older boys are really excited about the upcoming release of the FANTASTIC FOUR movie. E is into superheroes and, of course, N loves talking to him about them. That’s why are are planning a family FANTASTIC FOUR movie night.
As much as I love spending time with the boys, I also love saving money. What is even better is that I can save money and spend quality time with the boys just by buying Tyson® Any’Tizers®. Now, through August 15, when you purchase two specially marked FANTASTIC FOUR ticket offer bags of Tyson® Any’Tizers® you can get a ticket to see the FANTASTIC FOUR movie.
