Starting kindergarten this year has been a little tough for my son. Suddenly, he is having to get up early and put in a full day at school. In fact, he has often been coming home completely exhausted.
I know that this is a tough transition for him, which is why I want to show him that I’m proud of him and think that he’s doing a great job. While he comes home from school most days exhausted, I decided to make him some special after-school treats in order to perk him up a little (and to make it through until dinner).
I don’t want him eating just sweets as a snack so when I found these new OREO O’s at ShopRite I knew that they would be perfect for making some cereal squares. Plus, these snacks are so easy to make you can whip them up in under and half an hour.
Making OREO O’s Snack Squares
You will only need three ingredients to make these snack squares. You will need:
- One box (11 oz) of OREO O’s Cereal
- One package (10 oz) of marshmallows
- 3 Tbsp butter
In a large cooking pot melt the 3 tablespoons of butter and the package of marshmallows. You will want to keep the heat on them until all of the butter as well as the marshmallows have melted into a fairly even substance. You will then add in the contents of the box of OREO O’s.
Make sure that the cereal is well coated in the marshmallow mixture, but don’t leave on too long so you don’t burn the cereal or the marshmallows. After the cereal is coated, remove it from the pot and press it into a 9×13 baking pan lined with wax paper.
Allow to cool and then cut into squares and serve. It is something that your kids are sure to love and it makes the perfect after school snack.
You can purchase the new OREO O’s cereal in the cereal aisle of your nearest ShopRite. To find a store near you, just check the store locator.
