My oldest son is starting kindergarten this fall and I’m full of mixed emotions. I’m so happy that he is learning and growing but it also means that he’s not my baby anymore.
Despite the fact that he’s getting older I want to make sure that I create, and maintain, an after-school bond with him. One of my fondest memories is of my mom waiting for me on the front porch with a snack when I came home from school. It’s a memory I’d love to make with my own son.
Once school starts again, I know things will start getting busy and important family time can sometimes be put on the back burner. This is why I want to set up a ritual that we can make time for no matter what sort of crazy schedules we have.
As I said, I remember sitting on the front porch talking with my mom which is why I want to be able to do the same with my son. I purchased a large container that I filled with Goldfish crackers, which I can take outside to our table on the front porch and talk with him about how his day was.
These crackers are always baked with real cheese and contain no artificial flavors or preservatives. This means that these are a snack that I can feel good about serving to my kids.
It’s important to keep an open dialogue with your children, especially as they get older, which is why I’m hoping this after school ritual continues for years to come!
You can purchase Goldfish crackers in the snack aisle of your favorite retailer, so pick some up today and begin making memories!
