Everyone knows that I love holiday wreaths. I have one pretty much for every holiday and every season. Last year, I made a Valentine’s Day Rag Wreath, but this year I decided to do something a little different. I have been really into making the burlap bubble wreaths recently, so I decided to make a Valentine’s Day ribbon wreath this time.
After Christmas, when things were marked down to 80% off, I was able to snag a spool of burlap and red ribbon. Although its technically a Christmas ribbon, I thought it would lend itself perfectly for a Valentine’s Day wreath. It had that primitive country look that I was going for.
In addition to the ribbon I also purchased a 12″ metal frame, two wooden hearts, and a wooden sign that says “Love.”
I began by threading the ribbon through the wire frame. Its important that the ribbon you pick is the same on both sides so there is no “wrong” side. This will ensure a consistent look throughout the wreath.
To actually make the gathered wreath, you will use the same technique as you would when making one of the burlap bubble wreaths. Check out my full instructions HERE.
Once you have completed the wreath itself it time to create the embellishments. I painted one of the wooden hearts white and the other red. I left the “Love” sign its natural wood color.
I hot glued the hearts so that they were behind the word “Love.” I then glued them all to the wreath using the hot glue.
To complete the project, I used some jute cord to create a hanger which complemented the style and color perfectly.
This wreath is the perfect way to celebrate the Valentine’s Day season, and I must admit that this Valentine’s Day Ribbon Wreath looks perfect on my front door!
