Having a baby is a beautiful thing. When I was pregnant with my first son, I anticipated the birth being painful, but I didn’t have a clue about all of the stuff afterwards.
As I lay in the hospital bed holding my little miracle, I realized that there was a way more to this recovery than I initially had thought. This is why I have created a list of 4 items that you should be packing in your hospital bag that you may not have thought of.
Hemorrhoids are a good possibility. One of the #1 one things you will want to pack in your hospital bag are Preparation H® Medicated Wipes. In fact, 1 in 3 women will suffer from hemorrhoids after birth. No one wants to talk about their bottom — especially after a birth. However, hemorrhoids are a very real reality in postpartum life. All that pressure and pushing does nothing good down there.
By bringing Preparation H® Medicated Wipes with you to the hospital, it will help cool, soothe, and cleanse your bottom as it treats. They are convenient to use and will help relieve some of your discomfort. In addition there are also Preparation H® Medicated Wipes for Women which are the first and only women’s hemorrhoid wipes infused with chamomile, aloe and refreshing cucumber, plus a soothing medication that cools on contact. Use as directed.
Embrace disposable underwear. It is often high, meshy, and it will be your best friend. Whether you had a vaginal birth or a C-section, during postpartum will bring a lot of bleeding. The high underwear will help support your postpartum belly and if they get messy you just throw them away!
I highly suggest buying some of your own to not only bring to the hospital but also to have a home.
Have a bottle of stool softener. Another embarrassing bottom issue after childbirth is the first bowl movement after having the baby — especially if you had any stitches. In fact, it can be terrifying.
I had six stitches with my first son and I remember actually crying because I couldn’t go to the bathroom for fear of ripping out my stitches. This is when a stool softener will help. It will make going to the bathroom much less traumatic. Trust me on this one!
Take time to make yourself feel beautiful. In the days following birth you probably won’t be feeling your most attractive. Not only have you gone through the delivery, but you are also exhausted. Your skin will sag and you may be retaining water. I remember saying, “I’ve never felt less attractive.”
To help life your spirits, bring some nail polish and ask your partner to paint your toenails. This will help you to feel as beautiful and strong as you really are. Remember, you just created a life!
You can pick up all of the supplies you need in one easy place when you shop at Walmart. You can find Preparation H® Medicated Wipes in the digestive care isle at Walmart.
