I recently bought a house. I’ve owned two houses in the past, but those were with my husband. As a single mom now, this one is only in my name.
Its something I am immensely proud of. Although the journey to here has been bittersweet, especially since being a single mom was not a circumstance of my choosing, I am excited to be starting this new chapter of my life.
The journey from closing on the new house to moving in wasn’t easy. This wasn’t a move-in-ready house. It needed some electrical work, new carpet, and wallpaper removed before I could even think of moving in. In fact, it was three weeks before I could even move my stuff in, and then another two weeks after that before I even spent the night there.
The first night the boys and I spent there felt amazing. I was finally on my own again! This new chapter in my life had finally begun and all I saw were blank pages in front of me, ready to be written.
A great feature of the new house that I love is that it has a screened-in porch. This means that after the boys go to bed I can sit out on the porch and write with a nice glass of wine to unwind.
