Potty training is one of those experiences which can be so rewarding (no more diapers!) yet extremely frustrating at the same time. As a mom of a preschooler and also a toddler, I have experienced this firsthand. I’ve also discovered some truths to potty training.
Potty Training Truth #1: It will take boys longer than girls to potty train. At the time when Little E was potty training it seemed as if most of our friends had girls. I kept seeing the girls become potty trained, yet my son was still using diapers. It was frustrating! However, the more I talked to other people who had gone through potty training it seemed that for some reason girls tend to potty train faster. Which brings me to …
Potty Training Truth #2: They will do it in their own time. I was really wanting to get Little E potty trained, so we went out and bout a potty seat and all of the supplies. It turns out I was ready, but he wasn’t He was more interested in playing with the potty and using it to transport toys. That’s not really what the potty is for!
Potty Training Truth #3: Have plenty of flushable wipes on hand. You want to make this a pleasant experience for your little one which is why it is important to have flushable wipes. These are softer on their little bums and will get them cleaner. I love the Cottonelle® FreshCare® Flushable Cleansing Cloths from Sam’s Club. These wipes feature CleanRipple® technology which will get your little one’s bum cleaner and easier. With SafeFlush technology you don’t have to worry about the wipes clogging up your toilet either as they start to break down immediately.
By stocking up at Sam’s Club I am also able to save money. The exclusive Sam’s Club pack of Cottonelle® FreshCare® Flushable Cleansing Cloths features 11 packs for a total of 462 sheets. Plus, now through July 17, you can save $3 with a Sam’s Club instant rebate when you purchase Cottonelle® FreshCare® Flushable Cleansing Cloths. Trust me, you will be going through a lot of these cloths!
Potty Training Truth #4: They will get there eventually. You don’t have to worry about your child starting elementary school and not be potty trained. They will figure it out eventually. In the meantime, give them your unconditional support and they will be out of diapers (or training pants) before you know it!
