I admit it. I am a bit of a helicopter parent. Alright, maybe more than a bit. There is something about know that my babies are close by that gives me comfort.
It’s because of this that one of my must-have registry items was a video monitor. Not only would I be able to hear if the boys needed anything when they were in their rooms, but I could also check in on them anytime I wanted without the fear of disturbing them.
In addition to giving me peace of mind, having a video monitor has allowed me to catch so many sweet (and some not-so-sweet) moments on camera.
I remember watching as Little E pulling himself up in bed for the first time. He was really trying to get himself standing when, all of a sudden, there was an adorable set of eyes looking over the rail of the crib.
Recently, Baby R has learned to undress himself. Awesome. The other day after he woke up from his nap, I noticed that Baby R was up to something. It was then that I realized that he had undressed himself down to his diaper!
Another time, I was shocked to find out that Baby R was climbing out of his crib. Since he is still too little for a big-boy bed and climbing out the of the crib could be dangerous, I wanted to know how he was doing it. The problem was, I had no idea. So the next time I put him down for his name, I watched him to see how he did it. Thankfully, I was able to figure it out and keep him from doing it anymore!
There are a lot of baby monitors out there, and when you are choosing the one to trust your little ones with, it can be scary. For me, I went with the VTech VM343 monitor because it did all of the things that I wanted such as pan, tilt, and soon. It also has full-color as well as night vision modes.
A huge selling point for me when it comes to the VTech VM343 is that it can accommodate up to four cameras. This is a lifesaver when you have multiple children — especially small ones! There are multiple viewing options including single view, split-screen viewing, and patrol mode. This way, I can keep an eye on Baby R in his nursery and Little E in his room — all without leaving mine!
I know that my boys won’t stay little forever, which is why I cherish every one of the precious memories they make. Even if I am seeing them through the monitor!
