Baby showers can be such fun events. In addition to being able to celebrate the mommy-to-be it is a great way to get together with other women and maybe even do some games or crafts. If you find yourself planning a baby shower for a family member or a friend, you might be trying to come up with some activity ideas. This project will allow your guests to masker something meaningful for the new mom while not having to spend a ton of money on supplies. Plus, when it is done the new mom will have a beautiful keepsake.
Here is what you will need for the project:
- Cardboard coffee cup sleeves (just save the ones from your morning coffee for a while!)
- Craft glue
- Assorted card stock, scrapbook paper, and vellum
- Baby-related embellishments and stickers
- Note cards and decorative tags
- Ribbon
First I created a pattern of the coffee cup sleeve out of an index card so that I could more easily cut the scrapbook paper. This scrapbook paper will cover up any logos on the coffee sleeve. The best part is that you don’t need very large pieces of scrapbook paper so you can use up all of those scraps you have laying around.
You will want to use some craft glue and a paint brush to brush the glue onto the back of the scrapbook paper.
You want to seal the bottom of the coffee sleeve using hot glue. Gently squeeze the sleeve and put a line of glue along the very bottom of the sleeve.
These sleeves that just have the scrapbook paper attached would be perfect for shower guests to take and decorate however they want. They can use glitter, stickers, or other die casts to the outsides and then tuck a small note inside the sleeve. This note might be some wishes for the new baby or even little verses.
Once everyone has finished decorating the scrapbook pages, it is time to attach the pages together. Unless you have a hole punch that can punch through very thick material, you may want to actually consider using a drill to get through the coffee sleeve. Just make sure that you don’t punch the hole too close to the edge.
Once the holes are drilled, thread a small piece of ribbon through each of the holes and either knot it or tie a bow in it.
Then you can present the beautiful finished product to the new mom. She will then be able to look back at the good wishes of all of her friends and family for years to come!
