We are hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year. Since the kids are still a little young for pumpkin pie, I’ve been coming up with some kid-friendly dessert ideas. That’s why I love the idea of these Pumpkin Spice Rice Krispies Treats.
I found some pumpkin spice marshmallows at the store the other day as well as a pumpkin cookie cutter. Using the traditional Rice Krispies Treats recipe, I made the Pumpkin Spice Treats.
You will need:
- Pumpkin spice marshmallows
- 3 tbsp. of butter
- 5 cups Rice Krispies (or Crisped Rice) cereal
With the stovetop on low, melt the butter and marshmallows in a pot. You will have to stir constantly in order to keep everything mixed and from burning.
Once the marshmallows and butter have melted, pour in the five cups of cereal. Mix until all of the cereal is coated in the butter and marshmallow mixture.
Spoon the cereal into a 9×13 inch baking pan lined with foil. Using another piece of foil, press the cereal mixture until it is flat.
Use the edges of the foil, lift the mixture out of the pan. You can then cut the treats into squares or use a cookie cutter to cut them into treats.
This makes the perfect Thanksgiving kids treat, because even if they don’t eat the pumpkin pie, who doesn’t love pumpkin?
