Thoughts on 50 Shades of Grey + a giveaway!

So I just finished reading the first book in the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy. I have to admit that it was a deviation from the books that I usually read, and it really made me blush! Maybe I am just old fashioned .

Anyway, when it comes to the book itself I was rather disappointed. I guess I was just expecting something…more. The plot was shallow, the writing was incredibly repetitive and frankly, it was sort of unbelievable.

The main male character, Christian Grey, is a billionaire (not a millionaire but a billionaire) who speaks fluent French, is basically a concert level pianist, a fully trained pilot, athletic, drop dead gorgeous, with an enormous penis, and the best lover in the world. (Wow! Where can I get me one of these?!?) In addition, he’s not only self made, but is also using his money to combat world hunger. A great fantasy, yes. Something believable, no.

Although I was disappointed in the book itself, it did add some spice to my marriage. To be honest, I have been pretty conservative my whole life and it doesn’t take much to make me blush. But after being with my husband for five years (married for two), having a baby, and dealing with the stress of everyday life can often make a romantic life pretty mundane. Sometimes you feel as if intimacy takes a back seat, or it is just one more thing to do before bed.

After reading 50 Shades of Grey, it has made me realize that it is important to keep things spicy in a relationship, and sometimes this means we need to step away from the norm and explore.
