The two week wait. Ovulation has happened, we hope that we had perfect timing, but until it’s close enough to my expected period to take a pregnancy test, I just have to wait — and analyze every little symptom I have.
After every cycle, I am always wishing there was a test that could tell me immediately whether or not I was pregnant. Although now there are tests that can potentially tell you several days before your missed period, the science of it is that even if the egg is fertilized it still takes time for it to implant in the uterus and start producing the pregnancy hormone.
I know that with the fertility monitor we were able to have pretty good timing. We were able to be intimate on several days during the high period, however, the downside is that when the monitor reached the peak days, my husband happened to be out of town on business. Ugh, so frustrating!
We were intimate on the high fertility days, and since sperm can live up to five days in ideal conditions, it doesn’t mean that we are out of the game! So, in the meantime, I’m guessing about every symptom and every twinge I feel.
I always worry about getting my hopes up too high during this two week wait, for fear of it being even harder if my “monthly friend” does end up showing up. This process really is emotionally draining. In the meantime, I will continue to stay hopeful.
If we didn’t conceive this cycle, I know for sure that I will be using the monitor for my next cycle. Each box of test strips contains 30 strips which should be enough for three cycles. Despite our best intentions, life sometimes gets in the way. Whether it be a husband who is out of town during the peak days, medical conditions, or maybe an egg that doesn’t implant, even with perfect timing a cycle might not always work out.
Despite the outcome, the Clearblue® Fertility Monitor has given me so much confidence about conceiving again. It helps to make the process so much more accurate and really increases your chances of achieving conception. While it is a little on the expensive side at $229.99, that price point pales in comparison to the thousands of dollars you might have to spend for IUI or IVF. Plus, if you can achieve conception without the use of drugs, why wouldn’t you at least give it a try?
While I continue to wait for test time, I feel good knowing that even if this cycle wasn’t our cycle, there is always next month. With the Clearblue® Fertility Monitor (and hopefully a cooperative schedule on my husband’s end) I have confidence we will eventually be successful!
