I absolutely love my boys. In fact, I couldn’t imagine my life without them. I’m sure most parents feel this way. The problem is life is crazy. Between work, school, activities, and everything else, making our children feel special sometimes falls by the wayside.
This is why it is my goal this year, and every year from now on, to take the time and make the effort to make my kids feel special.
Talk about their day. I used to love it when my mom would meet me on the front porch after school and we’d just talk about the day. You may not have a front porch like my parents, but you can take time to sit on the couch or at the kitchen table and simply talk to your kids about their day — or whatever they want to talk about.
Share a favorite snack. When my mom would meet on that front porch she’d often bring a snack outside. This is a tradition I want to carry on with my sons. Recently the boys and I have been enjoying the new TEDDY SOFT BAKED Filled Snacks from Walmart.

Read to them. I love being able to cuddle up on the couch with the boys and read them stories. Its a time to bond with each other while also inspiring a love of learning in the process. One day I hope for them to read to me instead!
Go on special outings. I love being able to spend special time with the boys — both with them alone and together. This may involve taking them to lunch or even on trips to the amusement park. I want them to know that they mean the world to me and that I love spending time with them.
Set aside your work. It is so easy to tell your kids “hold on” or to sometimes put your work first. Whether this is actual work or even housework, it is important to set things aside every so often and just spend quality time with your children.
