Aging gracefully. Golden years. Wisdom.
These are all things that we often think about when it comes to getting older. While getting older does have certain advantages such as being able to retire or playing with the grandkids, there is often a whole other set of challenges that arises from it.
I have three grandparents who are still alive, and they are all currently in their 90s. In fact, my dad’s father is 96! With age such as this it also comes with a certain amount of health issues. Both my mother’s mother and my dad’s mother have both had serious strokes which have left them needing constant care. Although my grandfather is in relatively good health, the stress of caring for my grandmother can sometimes be overwhelming.
This means that taking care of elderly family members has become something of a group effort in the family. We take turns helping them to doctor appointments, picking up groceries and prescriptions, or just going over and spending time with them.
Sam’s Club Caregiver Program Lends a Hand
As I said, taking care of elderly family members has become sort of a group effort. However, stores such as Sam’s Club understand and are there to offer support to those who are helping to care for elderly family members. This is why they developed the Sam’s Club Caregiver Program.
There are several elements to the program which are all designed to make caring for elderly family members easier.
Discreet shipping. You can have items shipped directly to your house. It gives you peace of mind when ordering sensitive items since they are shipped in packaging that only you will know what is inside.
Club pick-up. When shopping online, look for items marked “Club Pickup.” The Sam’s Club team will gather your items and have them ready for you. All you have to do is go to the kiosk inside. In some stores you can even just pull up to the Drive Thru area and pick up your items.
Use Scan & Go to save time. All you have to do to use Scan & Go is to download the app, scan each item barcode in the store, and pay directly in the app. That way you can bypass the registers and save time.
One of the items that I frequently find myself buying frequently for my grandparents is Ensure nutritional shakes. With 9g of protein, 220 calories, and 26 vitamins and minerals it is a way that I know they are getting valuable nutrition. Whether it is forgetfulness because of the stroke or because life is so chaotic they can often forget to eat so this is an important way to supplement their diet.
You can find Ensure in the nutritional shakes and supplements aisle at Sam’s Club.
