Mother’s Day is just a couple of days away. Have you gotten your mother a card? How about a gift? Although taking the time to celebrate the fabulous women in our lives this Sunday is great, we need to make sure that we are celebrating these women the other 364 days of the year.
This year, instead of focusing on buying a card and a gift on one day (because this is also what society expects) try to focus on making every day memorable. As not only a mom, but also as a daughter, I’ve come up with some ways to celebrate mom (or any other special woman in your life) all year long. These are three Mother’s Day gifts that don’t involve you spending a dime!
Make memories (and take pictures!). Ask your mom what gift you gave her for Mother’s Day five years ago. I’m guessing that unless it was something spectacular, she won’t remember. I’m not saying what you got her wasn’t special, however, “stuff” tends to get lost in the shuffle. Now, ask her about that trip or special event five years ago and I’ll bet she can remember that. You see, it is the special memories that are the ones that last.
This year, consider going someplace or doing something instead of just buying a gift. Also, take lots of pictures while you are doing that special thing. That way, you will always be able to remember it — even five years later!
Say thank you. This doesn’t mean if she gives you something tangible. Say “thank you” for all of the things she has done for, and sacrificed for, you over the years. These are the things that often seem to go unnoticed and can seem thankless. Trust me when I say that those two words will go way further than any gift.
Take some time to call. I call my mom almost every day just to see how she is doing and to catch up. Now, I’m not saying you need to call every day, but try to call every couple of days. Also, don’t just call when you need something. Taking this time to talk with your mom and show you care is probably one of the most valuable gifts in the world.
How Walmart Family Mobile Helps You Stay Connected
What’s really awesome is that Walmart Family Mobile help you to achieve all of these — for a price thats within the budget too! Walmart Family Mobile plans don’t require a contract so you aren’t locked into anything you don’t love.
What you will love, however, is the price. Plans cost just $29.88 per line, per month, which includes unlimited talk, text, and up to 1 GB of 4G LTE to use any way you want. (Note: All prices for phones and plans included in this post are accurate as of the date of posting; however, these prices are subject to change. Please refer to your local Walmart for current pricing.) The phones are also reasonably priced which means you can pick a phone that best suits you. You can go as simple, or as fancy, as you like.
The phone that I tried out, the ZTE Zinger, is great because not only can I use it for making calls and sending texts (to my mom!) but I can also use it to take great pictures of the family. I can then either save the pictures to my computer, print them out for a photo album, or send them to friends and family.
It is also small enough that I can easily fit it in my pocket, but also large enough that I can easily use it for surfing the internet.
You can pick up the Walmart Family Mobile phones, as well as the starter packs and any accessories in the mobile phone section at your local Walmart.
