When I was pregnant with my boys it seemed as if I was always uncomfortable. At night I would toss and turn, trying to get comfortable. At night I would toss and turn, trying to get a comfortable position. Nursing was similarly uncomfortable for me. My back always hurt!
Thankfully, there is help. Whether you are trying to get a good night’s sleep or nurse your baby, there are pillows to help you. Help is on the way!
C-Shaped Body Pillow
This pillow was an absolute lifesaver for me. I struggled with back pain shortly after I could no longer sleep on my back. My belly was awkward and it put extra pressure on my back muscles. I tried positioning pillows all around me but they never seemed to work . This was particularly frustrating because when you are pregnant all you want is a good night’s sleep. I was desperate for a solution when someone recommended a C-shaped body pregnancy pillow.
This pregnancy pillow was amazing. Its C-shape supports your back while one side of the C supports your head and the other supports your belly. It allows some of the pressure of pregnancy to be taken off of your body.
Wedge Pillow
Maybe you aren’t ready for the full-size C-shape pregnancy pillow. Your belly may be starting to grow and put strain on your back muscles. In this situation, a wedge pillow may be the answer.
A wedge pillow is exactly as it sounds. It is a wedge-shaped pillow that you tuck under your belly to help support the extra weight. It levels out your belly and relieves some of the pressure.
Nursing Pillow
After your little bundle of joy arrives, it doesn’t mean that you are done with specialty pillows. Instead, you are probably ready for a Nursing Pillow. Nursing can be a bit awkward. You want the experience to be relaxing instead of having painful neck, back, and arm muscles.
When you use a nursing pillow it helps to position the baby correctly by wrapping around your waist. This was a game-changer for me when I was nursing my second son. It helped me to get him in the right position and was able to maximize our nursing experience. This is truly a must-have for any nursing mom!
